This Living Room originally lacked the personality traits of its well-educated owners who travel extensively until Principal Interior Designer Lloyd Hodgkinson transformed it into a beautifully sophisticated space. This wonderful completed addition imbues the home with an ambience that truly reflects the client’s South African heritage.
Texture was a key design element with the walls being covered with a grassweave-look wallpaper to add depth to the space. Large upholstered furniture pieces were kept neutral while colour and interest were added using scatter cushions and accessories in combination with the client’s wonderful existing art pieces collected over many years and across many continents.
Warmth underfoot and a general cosiness were achieved by laying a beautiful hand-knotted rug in neutral tones, pulling the larger pieces of furniture in to great effect.
The room also features a study corner where Lloyd situated a tortoise-shell finish desk chair to accompany his client’s antique leather-topped desk. Many of the clients existing African artifacts were also used to help create this dynamic look.
