Highvale Residence

This contemporary home and residence is rich in spaces where parents and their children can enjoy “being together as a family” in the truest sense. Our clients have three young children so it was important that the main living areas be designed to be not only comfortable, but practical, with a mix of vibrant colours and warm textures to capture the active, as well as relaxed, lifestyle of a family-oriented home. The master bedroom was a completely different design story. This particular space is a real treat solely for the enjoyment of the parents.

THE LIVING AREAS

The colour scheme for the family living areas exudes tones of light grey and burnt charcoal with hints of aqua and pops of yellow; fun elements reflecting this family’s personality.

This modern space embodies clean-lines and design elements reflecting a contemporary interpretation of traditional ethnic design. Such a look is successfully achieved by situating two beautifully attractive ‘adults only’ armchairs and ottomans upholstered in an over-sized Ikat fabric in prime position in front of an open fireplace. Other stunning design elements include a hexagonal bone-inlay side table and a large Turkish style mirror with beaten metal frame mounted on a textured grass weave wallpaper.

THE MASTER BEDROOM

The Master Bedroom needed to be a sophisticated, yet relaxing, space for these busy parents. Our clients wanted this private retreat to be a comfortable and luxurious sanctuary; a special place where they could unwind at the end of each day.

Duck-egg blue, taupe and charcoal colours were chosen underpinned by dramatic dark stained timber bedsides, polished chrome with glass lamps and a silver-leaf round side table. The luxurious viscose custom-made rug with its elegant trellis design, frames the bedroom setting and can only be walked on to truly experience the exceptional level of comfort.

THE FURNITURE

A combination of custom-made, ready-made and cherished pieces of existing furniture complement each other yielding a design unique to this family home and residence. Two custom-made rugs in wool and viscose were used for the living room and master bedroom to accentuate this signature design.

The guiding principle we adhere to for all our interior design projects is – scale. The relationship between the spaces one is working with and the design elements chosen to occupy and enhance that space can often be the difference between good and outstanding designs.
