Alderley Residence

For this beautiful Spanish Mission style home in Alderley, I was engaged by my clients to assist them in an extensive renovation. The original section of the home was retained, while a newer extension was added onto the rear of the home.

When working with old homes, I am a big believer in any modern addition still retaining a certain level of detail that speaks to the original parts of the home. To achieve this synergy, I selected a travertine stone in a French pattern to be used in the new extension. This allowed for the new extension to feel connected to the original home.

Once the renovation was complete, I worked with my clients to assist them in supplying furniture and furnishings for their home. As they were a young family, they wanted a fresh and bright colour palette that felt happy and modern. The dining room was a particular triumph, with a large contemporary pendant light hanging over an antique dining table. I selected a large modern mirrored buffet and bright abstract artworks to add drama to the space.

Fabrics for the soft furnishings throughout the home were kept bright and highly patterned to bring personality to the interior, while main fabrics for the sofas and dining chairs were selected to be practical and hard-wearing.

The overall affect is a classic style home with a fresh modern twist, perfect for my clients and their young children.
